ABOUT PETER ZAENKER
Peter Zaenker is a versatile B.C classical guitarist and a past 2nd place prizewinner at the “Northwest Guitar Festival’ held at Western Washington University. He grew up in a musical family, playing primarily cello as well as trumpet; instruments he enjoys playing from time to time. In possession of a deep bass voice, he has had years of choral singing experiences with choirs such as Chor Leoni and National Youth Choir. His main guitar teachers have been Stephen Boswell and Michael Strutt (Vancouver), Roberto Aussel and Hubert Kaeppel (Cologne).
Peter has completed five post-secondary certificates in music:

* B.MUS (performance) University of British Columbia
* B.ED (secondary music), University of British Columbia
* Artists diploma, Cologne Musikhochschule
* Instrumental Pedagogy diploma, Cologne Musikhochschule
He lived for 10 years in Germany, giving performances in Germany and France and participating in over 20 masterclasses with the “who’s who” of the guitar world, including Pepe Romero, Leo Brouwer, Manuel Barrueco, and David Russell. Past engagements include the “Concierto de Aranjuez” by Rodrigo with the West Coast Symphony, Castelnuovo string quintet with Pro Nova, Douglas college noon hour series, and Vivaldi “Concerto in D” with I Musici Sushi. He also conducts the “Druzhba” Russian folk choir and is a board member of the Vancouver Classic Guitar Society. He currently teaches privately and in school district #40, and performs on a resonant 2004 Bernhard Kresse Spruce top guitar, made in Cologne, Germany.
