FROM BEGINNER TO ADVANCED

Set yourself a goal and improve your skills! You will see definite results after a few months (provided practice occurs in a goal-oriented fashion!)

I teach students from ages 6 – 90 who are interested in learning the fundamentals of classical guitar playing. The curriculum of the Royal Conservatory of Music can be guideline for repertoire and technical growth. I also welcome those who are interested in or who play different genres (pop, jazz, folk) wishing to incorporate classical techniques into their playing.

Lesson content can encompass many areas, such as sight-reading, ear training, chord theory, rhythmic training. My teaching style has been influenced by my active participation in masterclasses in Canada, Germany, Spain, U.S and England with the world’s best classical guitar performers. My teaching credentials and experiences include:

  • Diploma in Instrumental Pedagogy from the Cologne Musikhochschule
  • Bachelor of Education in Secondary Music from UBC
  • Teacher of guitar and concert band at New Westminster Secondary
  • Elementary band and guitar teacher at St. Helens Catholic school, Burnaby
  • Guitar teacher at Douglas College, New Westminster
  • Teacher of guitar in group and solo settings for many years privately as well as at five music schools in the Greater Cologne Region (Musikschule Gummersbach, Volkshochschule Overath, Pipapohl, Musikschule Engelskirchen, Musikschule Roesrath)
  • Juror for the UBC guitar program, Performing Arts BC, Chilliwack Lion’s Club Festival, Cologne Musikhochschule
